What happens when a NYCHA tenant dies?

If the head of household moves out or dies, a remaining family member can take over the apartment. If NYCHA denies your request to take over the lease you will have to file a Grievance.

How do I make a walk in appointment for NYCHA?

NYCHA’s Customer Contact Center Walk-In locations provide in-person services to address the needs of public housing residents, Section 8 voucher holders and landlords, and applicants. Customer Contact Center representatives are always available to take your calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 718-707-7771.

Is NYCHA Section 8 open?

As of December 10, 2009, NYCHA is no longer accepting new Section 8 applications. If you previously submitted a Section 8 housing application when the waitlist was open, you may log on to the Self-Service Portal to check the status of the application and update your information.
